An overview for practice managers and admin teams of the steps involved in getting SystmConnect live, from access through to go-live.

This guide is aimed at practice managers, administrators and service leads planning a SystmConnect rollout. It's a general overview to help you understand the shape of the project — for the definitive, step-by-step setup process, TPP's own Learning Management System (LMS) is the authoritative source.

  1. 1

    Request access

GP practices and other SystmOne-using organisations can request SystmConnect through their usual TPP account contact. Non-GP services should check current commercial terms.

  2. 2

    Work through the LMS training

TPP provides a Learning Management System with setup, configuration and workflow videos aimed at whoever will administer the system day to day. Contact training@tpp-uk.com if your team needs access.

  3. 3

    Configure your forms and routing

SystmConnect comes with a comprehensive pre-built library of clinical and administrative content, which most practices adapt rather than build from scratch. Decide which forms you need and who each type of request should route to.

  4. 4

Set capacity controls if you need them

You can cap the number of requests accepted in a period, or control consultation timing, to match the capacity your team actually has.

  5. 5

    Publish the patient-facing link

Add the link to your website, and make sure reception and clinical staff know how to point patients to it — including for phone and in-person contacts, which also get logged in the same system.

  6. 6

Monitor and adjust using the dashboards

Real-time dashboards show consultation activity at practice, PCN and ICB level, which helps you spot where demand is building and rebalance staffing or routing.

Tips & things to watch for

  • Lean on the pre-built content library first — it covers most common request types and saves significant setup time versus building forms from scratch.
  • If you're part of a PCN or ICB, coordinate with neighbouring practices — shared conventions make cross-cover and comparisons easier.
  • SNOMED clinical coding happens automatically from structured requests, which is worth explaining to clinical staff so they understand what's captured without manual transcription.
  • Review your dashboard data on a regular cadence (weekly is common) rather than only when something goes wrong.

Frequently asked questions

Is SystmConnect free for GP practices?

According to TPP, it's provided free to GP practices until a centrally funded NHS framework becomes available. Non-GP units should check current commercial pricing directly with TPP.

Where do I find official setup documentation?

TPP's own site (tpp-uk.com) hosts the current pricing, terms, and clinical safety documentation, and the LMS is the definitive source for configuration steps — this guide is a general orientation, not a replacement for it.
